360Giving Workshops

We run workshops to increase confidence, knowledge and skills using data.

Workshops

360Giving workshops are informal learning sessions which are designed to increase your confidence, knowledge and skills in using data and to grow your understanding of 360Giving’s tools and publishing process.

Our online workshops are for non-experts. They are intended to be a safe learning environment for people of all abilities, whether you are totally new to data or want to brush up on your existing skills.

Anyone can take part in our workshops and you don’t have to already be publishing data using the 360Giving Data Standard to take part.

If you have any questions on 360Giving’s workshops contact comms@threesixtygiving.org.

Intersectional data analysis

With our Chief Executive Tania Cohen

Intersectionality is increasingly a buzzword – but undertaking multi-dimensional data analysis is easier said than done, and is often not done well in practice. As funders are collecting more data, particularly equity data, learning how to interpret, use and present this data responsibly is more important than ever.

In this practical, interactive online workshop, attendees will learn about the common challenges and pitfalls in intersectional data analysis, and explore options to use and report on multi-dimensional data.

We will use Excel, including pivot tables, to demonstrate the manipulation of the data, so intermediate knowledge of Excel would be helpful for attendees, but the principles are the same regardless of the tools used.

With support from our host, Tania Cohen, attendees will have the opportunity to explore examples and ask questions about different scenarios.

We will cover:

  • Understanding what intersectional data analysis is
  • Exploring common pitfalls and limitations of sample sizes
  • Examples of presentation and different scenarios
  • Practical exercises to explore the data

Who is the session for?

This workshop is designed for people who work for grantmaking organisations who have a basic working knowledge of Excel, and want to learn more about how they can undertake intersectional analysis and present multi-dimensional data, particularly equity data.

What will I need?

  • A laptop or PC (this session is not suitable for tablet and phone users)
  • Excel 2013 Windows or Excel 2016 Mac editions or newer
