Fran Perrin OBE – Stepping down as Chair, remaining as Founder

By

Fran Perrin has announced that she will be stepping down from the Chair role at 360Giving in summer 2022, but will continue to support the organisation as a champion, ambassador and Founder after.

Since Fran created 360Giving in 2015, a sector transformation has been achieved. By early 2022, over 220 funders have published over 600,000 grants worth over £110bn. Over 30,000 people a year access and use this data in the 360Giving tools alone.

This means that for the first time in the UK, it’s possible to see and analyse grants given by different funders all together. Having this information means funding can be more informed and effective. 360Giving is creating meaningful change in the sector.

As a result of 360Giving’s success in sharing grants data, the team has been able to launch an ambitious new strategy, ‘Unleashing the impact of grants data’. The strategy seeks to build on momentum gained, and aims to shift the norm from funders sharing data to using it in their day-to-day work. And with a new strategy in place, Fran said:

As we enter a new phase for the organisation, 360Giving is ready to hand over to a new board leadership to take us into an exciting next stage.

Because of her huge impact as a philanthropist, and for setting up and driving the direction of 360Giving, Fran was awarded a much-deserved OBE in 2020. And although she is stepping down as Chair, Fran will continue to act as our Founder, and campaign for more and better use of open data in the funding sector.

Looking back at 360Giving’s history and achievements, Fran said:

I set up 360Giving because – as a philanthropist – I could not find the information I needed to make funding decisions, and I had seen elsewhere the power of open data movements. In seven short years, 360Giving has gone from being an idea to a nationally and internationally recognised charity which has completely changed the way that the funding sector works.

I’m very much looking forward to staying on as Founder, and championing the work that the team does to promote the sharing and use of open data. I can’t wait to see what 360Giving will achieve next.

The 360Giving team and board would like to thank Fran for all that she has done to support, steer and share the work of 360Giving. Fran has been integral to setting up the organisation, guiding the team during the pandemic, and sharing her knowledge generously.

Recruitment for a new Chair will start at the end of March 2022.
